History

A neighborhood, a story

Sacré-CœurAbbessesLamarckPigalle

Originally a village of vineyards and windmills annexed to Paris in 1860, Montmartre became the heart of the artistic bohemia at the end of the 19th century. Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec, and then Picasso at the Bateau-Lavoir all lived here. The Sacré-Cœur Basilica, completed in 1914, dominates the city from the hilltop. Place du Tertre, Les Abbesses, and the Clos-Montmartre vineyard still preserve its village charm.

Montmartre and the Sacré-Cœur offer the Paris of artists, panoramic views, and cobbled streets: a truly unique setting for a stay of several months.
